The Resolution Series: Tournaments for the L5R CCG

Over the history of the Legend of the Five Rings brand, there have been many storylines that have reached an epic and satisfying conclusion, most with the full participation of L5R’s amazing and engaging fanbase. Due to the nature of the ongoing storyline, however, it is inevitable that some plotlines fail to achieve proper resolution, and some simply fall by the wayside entirely. It is unfortunate, but a part of the ongoing, constantly reshaped narrative that has made L5R unique in the CCG world.

This season, a series of tournaments will be taking place that are intended to revisit some of these forgotten plotlines, bringing closure where none was had in previous arcs. These plotlines will come from both the desires of the Story Team to find closure, and from those stories that the fans have asked for repeatedly over the years.

It’s time for memories to come alive!

Scion of Serpents

To be held on October 26th, 2013, in Dublin, Ireland.

Decades ago, unforeseeable circumstances led to the discovery of a passage from Sakkaku, the Realm of Mischief, by agents of the Mantis Clan. This passage allowed the Mantis to create a unique sect of warriors known as the Orochi Riders, individuals bonded with the vastly powerful sea serpents known as orochi, capable of devastating entire units of enemy forces without difficulty. In time, however, the Mantis came to distrust the intentions of the enigmatic Orochi, and the Orochi Riders fell out of favor, eventually being disbanded altogether. Not everyone has forgotten, however.

The winning faction of this tournament will determine the clan affiliation of one Orochi, a former member of the Orochi Riders that had assumed human form using ancient Sakkaku secrets. The transformed orochi seeks to create a new opportunity for its kind among the Great Clans of Rokugan, and may result in a radical new military unit for the clan in question, albeit much different from the old Orochi Riders. The top-placing Mantis Clan player in this tournament will also work with the Story Team to determine the fate of the other former Orochi Riders as part of this story.
