Qualifying Rounds There will be 4 qualifying rounds. In these rounds, it is a one-on-one game. It is a 5 rounds Swiss format; meaning that everyone that participates will play 5 rounds, no elimination. The top four players in each round (the players with the best win/loss records) will advance to the final round. If there is a tie in the win/loss records, the tie will be broken by the total of overall points during all 5 rounds. Final Round The final round will put the best four players from each round against each other in the single elimination match. It is still a one-on-one game. When does this happen? Qualifier #1 – Thrusday August 15th: 11am to 3pm Qualifier #2 – Thrusday August 15th: 4pm to 8pm Qualifier #3 – Friday August 16th: 11am to 3pm Qualifier #4 – Friday August 16th: 4pm to 8pm FINAL – Saturday August 17th: 6pm to 9pm How do I sign-up? The tournaments don’t need a pre-sing-up. Just come and see us at the tournament area and tell us you want to participate. You should show up about 30 minutes before the start of a qualifier if you want to have a spot. There is a maximum of 32 players per qualifying round. First come first entered! What are the prizes? The top 4 qualifiers in each round will win a pack of Carcassonne prizes! The last person standing in the end wins a trip to Essen to represent the US at the Carcassonne World Championships! The other top 3 finalists will also go home with some cool prizes! |
