Onyx Path Publishing Press Release - New Release: W20 Wyld West Expansion Pack

W20 Wyld West
Now available from DriveThruRPG in PDF and print!

Bad Moons and Silver Bullets

It was a time when a silver bullet could buy your life in a way gold couldn’t. A time when the railroads barrelled their way west, and the Umbral skies tore open over them. When Garou warred on Garou, divided by the ever-moving frontier, and ancient horrors broke free. In the World of Darkness, the American West wasn’t just wild — it was savage.

Onyx Path Publishing Press Release - One Foot in Flesh and One in Spirit

From the Onyx Path Publishing Website

Harmony won last week’s vote, 40 to 4. I will cover everything that comes up for a vote, these wee contests only affect the order of posts.

Harmony as a trait measures how well you balance the flesh and the spirit. The idea of balance, of needing to walk between two worlds while never being fully in one or the other, is key to Werewolf. That balance is what gives the Uratha a spark of control over the changing beast within. Being about balance and about change, Harmony as a trait ties the Forsaken to Mother Luna, goddess of cycles, change, and balance.

That perfect position of balance comes at Harmony 5. When your Harmony is higher, you’re closer to the flesh than the spirit. At Harmony 10, you can’t enter the Shadow and you need to burn Essence to shapeshift at all (except when you enter Kuruth). At Harmony 0, you’re trapped in the Shadow. You need to spend Essence and roll to not shapeshift when you face an emotional stimulus — and you’re laden with spirit bans over and above those from totem and lodge.

Onyx Path Publishing Press Release - Now in Print: February 5

From the Onyx Path Publishing Website

Rage Across the World
Now available in print at DriveThruRPG!

Walking the World
The Garou fight their war against the Wyrm throughout the world. Werewolves fight a deadly three-sided war in the Amazon, facing both the Wyrm’s forces and native shapeshifters who do not appreciate the Garou’s incursion. In Cairo, the Arab Spring provides cover for the werewolves’ enemies, but also opportunity and hope. In Iberia and America, the plight of wolves mirrors the Wyld’s declining influence. At home, the Garou must be ever-vigilant for threats against their septs, both from within and without.

Through a Werewolf’s Eyes
This book presents the World of Darkness through a werewolf’s eyes, providing players and Storytellers with valuable information on what life is like for the Garou. In addition to a detailed look at septs and caerns, this book also includes stories from the travels of three Garou who have dedicated themselves to discovering more about the Triat. Storytellers who want to open up the world, and players who want their characters to take up a position in their home sept will find all of the information they need in this book.

W20 Rage Across the World contains:
  • Companion volume to Werewolf: The Apocalypse Twentieth Anniversary Edition.
  • An in-depth look at septs and caerns, including common features and rituals, sept positions, and new systems for caern totems.
  • Stories from the travels of three Garou, highlighting the dangers and opportunities of the Weaver, Wyld, and Wyrm.
  • New antagonists, totems, Gifts, rites, and fetishes.

Onyx Path Publishing Press Release - New Release: W20 Cookbook

From the Onyx Path Publishing Website

124156Now available in PDF and print at DriveThruRPG!
Every werewolf tribe has its traditions, legends, and customs. From the tales of lordly Silver Fangs to the debased Black Spiral Dancers, and from the isolated Siberakh to the long-dead White Howlers, those legends live on. Part of that culture comes across through each tribe’s attitude towards food.

This book is a first for the World of Darkness, providing both extra background details on each tribe of Garou and a tasty recipe that’s representative of the tribe. Many of them come with variations for feeding those Garou and Kinfolk who hold to vegetarian or vegan diets, or are gluten-intolerant. Storytellers may want to use the W20 Cookbook as an in-character prop, or as inspiration to cook something for their players before the game begins.

The W20 Cookbook contains:
  • Twenty recipes for tasty dishes, one for each tribe of the Garou.
  • Recipes range from entrees to desserts to snacks to eat on the run.
  • Examinations of how each tribe approaches food, and how even the Red Talons can enjoy a cooked meal.

Onyx Path Publishing - Kickstarter Shipping Update

From the Onyx Path Publishing Website

We don’t typically post Kickstarter updates here on the Onyx Path front page, particularly not once the Kickstarter is over. But this is an issue which truly concerns us, and we want to be open about that.
Quoth Rich:

I’m posting this message to both the Deluxe W20 and HH2 KS pages as the dual ship means this is pertinent to both groups. Obviously, the ship-outs of these projects did not and have not proceeded as you or I had expected. While the greater majority of backers have received their rewards, the time it took for this to happen and the number of folks still without has made this a frustrating and extended process far beyond what any of us need to experience with these sorts of projects.

I’ve heard several reasons for the long ship out, and perhaps it simply was bad to ship anywhere in December at all because of the holiday shipping crunch, or that there were just an acceptable percentage of delays and damages based on the sheer number of books (Onyx Path’s largest and most complex ship-out to date) as the shippers maintain.

Well, it’s not acceptable to me, and I know that those of you who this affected don’t find it all that acceptable either. If December was a bad month to ship- why did the Children of the Revolution ship-out which also went in December the year before go out OK? And why didn’t anyone at these shippers mention that there’d be extended delivery times? Yes, I’m frustrated because I don’t have the answers here, and clearly I needed to know these things.

If you’re a Werewolf20 or Hunters Hunted II backer and have not yet received your books, please read the full update on the Kickstarter site.

Onyx Path Publishing - Lots Going On

From the Onyx Path Publishing Website

It’s an exciting time to be W20 developer: seeing the books I’ve helmed out on the virtual shelves of DriveThruRPG! We released a glut of books at the end of the year, though with many people celebrating over the festive period they might have flown under the radar. Here’s a recap of what’s come out:
  1. Changing Breeds is out in PDF and Print on Demand. If you backed the Kickstarter, this final version replaced the previous one in your DriveThruRPG library. The deluxe files have gone to our printers.
  2. Rage Across the World is out in PDF. This is the same version as sent out to W20 Kickstarter backers. We’re still collecting errata before activating Print on Demand.[1]
  3. Rites of Renown: When Will You Rage II is out in electronic formats. Again, this is the same version as sent out to Kickstarter backers. Errata thread is here, once we’ve incorporated that we’ll activate Print on Demand[1]
  4. The W20 Cookbook is out to Kickstarter backers, and people are already posting pictures of the dishes they’ve come up with. We’ve got an errata thread, and once corrections have gone in we’ll get it up on DriveThru.
Meanwhile, Umbra continues apace. I can’t spoil much until I’ve got the first drafts in hand; when that happens I’ll be sure to spill some secrets. :)

  1. Everyone who gets a copy in PDF now will receive a voucher for a discount Print on Demand copy, so your outlay is the same as if you’d waited and bought the bundle. To make sure you don’t miss the notice, head on over to your DriveThruRPG account settings and modify them to make sure you can receive emails from White Wolf.  ?

Onyx Path Publishing Press Release - New Release: W20 Changing Breeds

From the Onyx Path Publishing Website

We’re on a roll.

Changing Breeds for Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition has been released!

Changing Breeds for Werewolf 20th Anniversary Edition is here! Everything you need to play any of the other werecreatures of the World of Darkness, including the Lost Breeds.

Creatures of the Wild

The Garou are not the only changing creatures to stalk the world. Other shapeshifters hunt in places where wolves do not tread, from sun-lost seas to the darkest jungles, or seek out hidden truths, using the secrets they uncover in the battle against the Wyrm. Shapeshifting spiders spin webs as deftly as they manipulate those around them. Bloody-handed serpents kill swiftly, and then vanish into shadow and myth. The Changing Breeds have their own crucial parts to play in these End these End Times, and must work together or Gaia will surely fall.

A Menagerie of Gaia’s Children
This book brings the Changing Breeds right up to date, giving both players and Storytellers all of the tools needed to integrate shapeshifters other than werewolves into the World of Darkness. Eleven extant Changing Breeds are described in detail, along with three long-extinct Lost Breeds.

Changing Breeds contains:
  • Updated details on eleven Changing Breeds present in modern times: Ajaba, Ananasi, Bastet, Corax, Gurahl, Kitsune, MokolĂ©, Nagah, Nuwisha, Ratkin, and Rokea.
  • Character creation information for each Breed, including brand new Gifts, rites, fetishes, and more.
  • New information on three Lost Breeds: the Apis wereaurochs, Camazotz werebats, and Grondr wereboars. Camazotz werebats, and Grondr wereboars.
