Ticket to Ride Nederland, the 4^thaddition to the Ticket to Ride Map Collection series is a beautiful new map featuring an ingenious twist – nearly all routes are double-track bridge crossings. Grab the first route between cities and you’ll pay a price in Bridge Toll Tokens directly to the bank; the player who grabs the second route will then have to pay you his tokens! Bonuses go to players who can hold onto (and earn more!) Bridge Toll Tokens.

Relic Runners is our newest big board game to hit game store shelves. It’s a great jungle adventure where players follow trails across the jungle board map, exploring stacks of temples and ruins, ultimately hoping to uncover precious relics and earn victory points. The game components are simply gorgeous and gamers the world over are raving about how much fun the game is to play.

Days of Wonder Press Release - New Days of Wonder Games at Essen

There’s a big red circle marking the month of October on every board gamer’s calendar. The world’s largest game convention – Essen Spiel – takes place in Germany this October 24-27 and Days of Wonder is debuting two new products at Essen: Ticket to Ride Nederland – the 4th in our series of Map Collections; and the brand new Art of Small World Statues. You’ll also get a chance to play our newest adventure game, Relic Runners and even get a preview of the upcoming Small World 6-Player Map.

Ticket to Ride^® Nederland features a beautiful new map of the low country with an ingenious new twist – nearly all routes are double-track bridge crossings. When a player grabs the first route between cities, he pays a price in Bridge Toll Tokens directly to the bank; but when the second route is claimed, the money goes to the player who claimed the first route!

The Art of Small World Statues are something completely different, and completely fantastic. These are limited-edition, hand-painted art figures of the Skeleton, Wizard, Amazon and Spiderine characters from Small World. Getting a Small World Statue is a “must” for fans and we’ll make it easy to pick up all of them with a special “Buy 3, get the 4th one free” offer.

One of the Days of Wonder Essen highlights will be Relic Runners, our new jungle adventure game that one reviewer called “an out-of-the-ballpark hit”! We’ll have lots of Relic Runners demo tables for you to play on, plus Relic Runners designer, Matthew Dunstan will be at our booth everyday at 11:00 and 15:00 to meet with you and sign your copy of Relic Runners. The illustrator, Julien Delval, will be there as well on Saturday and Sunday.

You can also be one of the first to take a crack at the upcoming 6 player map of Small World. It’s a fun new way to play the game with an exciting team variant and we will have some pre-production samples to demo.

[Relic Runners] rewards thought and planning but doesn’t disproportionately reward experience, and doesn’t take a few suffering-filled plays before a new player can start to see the depth. The ancient relics had lain dormant in the darkest reaches of the jungle since time immemorial. But once word of their discovery broke out, all manner of would-be archeologists rushed in…
The retired university professor… the bombastic explorer… the lithe (but daring) heiress… and a shadowy former Army captain – all wanted to be first to lay their hands on the precious loot!


In Relic Runners you are a fearless Explorer, traveling the jungle in search of lost temples full of forgotten treasures and relics. Armed with nothing more than your trusty Pith Helmet and a nose for rare antiquities you’ll explore Temple Ruins and Shrines and undertake Expeditions in a race to unearth the most treasure!
Designed by newcomer Matthew Dunstan, Relic Runners is a new large-format board game. Players follow trails across the jungle board map as they explore stacks of temples and ruins, ultimately hoping to uncover precious relics and earn victory points.
Players work to efficiently manage their resources: building pathways; making sure to carry sufficient Rations; and expand their Explorer’s Toolbox to help them explore, resupply, take additional actions, and score bonuses. Skillful planning will lead to a successful expedition as they travel their pathways to capture valuable relics.

Relic Runners features a richly-illustrated jungle board map and beautiful Temple and Ruins tiles, plus 20 highly-detailed Sculpted Relics. For 2-5 players, ages 10+, it takes approximately 40-80 minutes to play. Relic Runners is expected to be available worldwide in September, at a retail price of $60/€50.
