Thursday Night Gaming at Paradise Perks was a disappointment. There were only 20 people in attendance this
time with 4 tables with games being played at any one time. I think that attendance was down because it
was finals week over at UC Irvine and a number of the regulars go to school
there so they were not in attendance.
I only played one game.
The game I played was Dominion.
Dominion is a popular deck building game. In this game the players start out with a
deck of 10 cards, 7 are cash cards 3 are point cards. They are shuffled and the player draws 5 cards
from their deck. They can then choose to
do a single action with an action card, if they have one, taking the actions on
the card, and then buy a card from the tableau of cards on the table, which
give them actions, such as drawing additional cards from their deck, extra actions,
or extra buys, more money, or more points.
The turn then passes to the next player.
The game ends when three of the sets of cards in the tableau are
exhausted or the set of the highest value point cards are exhausted.
It had been the first time that I had played the game in over a year so
I was slow at developing my deck into a cash machine so I could purchase point
cards quickly. As a result I managed to
come in last.
The group I was playing with decided that they wanted to play a game
that I was not interested in so I passed. Since it took us about an hour to play the
Dominion game I figured that one of the other tables would be ending soon and I
would be able to play a game that was more enjoyable to me.
Unfortunately, it did not work out that way. All of the other tables were in the middle of
their games. I waited around for a half
hour, but none of the games took like they were ending anytime soon, so I left.
